Dr. André Marette?
Dr André Marette
Dr. André Marette, professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval, is a researcher at the Research Centre of the University Institute of Cardiology and Pneumology of Quebec. Dr Marette holds the Valbiotis Chair in Translational research into the mechanisms of action of plant compounds on metabolic hepatic steatosis. He also holds the Pfizer Fund on the Pathogenesis of Insulin Resistance and Cardiovascular Disease.
Il a reçu plusieurs prix honorifiques dont le prestigieux « Charles Best Lectureship Award » de l’Université de Toronto, un prix international qui reconnait la contribution du titulaire à l’avancement de la recherche sur le diabète. Il est aussi l’auteur de deux livres dont un ouvrage pour le grand public intitulé « La vérité sur le sucre » qui est paru chez les éditeurs VLB publié en septembre 2016, ainsi que d’un livre scientifique : « Yogurt: Roles in Nutrition and Impacts on Health », édité par CRC Press en 2017.
Expertise
Dr. Marette's work focuses on the causes of obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, as well as the prevention and treatment of these pathologies. In particular, he studies the role of the intestinal microbiota and inflammation in the etiology and progression of diabetes, hepatic and cardiovascular diseases, and develops therapeutic strategies derived from the exploration of the microbiome. Dr. Marette's research has been published in more than 300 articles, reviews and book chapters
